Hunting Island State Park is open from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. from April through September and 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. from October through March.
A nominal admission fee is charged for each day visitor age 16 or older.

With 5,000 acres of sandy beach, maritime forest and saltwater marsh, Hunting Island State Park is one of the most beautiful and unusual beaches in the U.S. If your family loves nature, you can find an abundance of birds – more than 125 species have been reported at the Park – and other wildlife on beach walks and nature hikes with the Park's naturalist.
If you enjoy hiking on your own, hike the one-mile trail to the Hunting Island Lighthouse, built in 1873. It’s the only lighthouse in South Carolina open to the public. It costs 50 cents to climb the 167 steps to the top, where the view will take your breath away.
